MSI And NVIDIA Bring You The MPG 272QRF X36
NVIDIA’s G-SYNC Pulsar technology was first revealed at CES 2024, but we didn’t hear too much about it again until now. There will be four G-SYNC Pulsar displays available tomorrow, from Acer, AOC, ASUS and MSI. They are all going to be essentially the same, so while this post is specifically about MSI’s MPG 272QRF X36 it should apply to the other three monitors as well. We will see differences in the physical design of the displays and quite possibly unique OSD implementations, but the basic specs will be the same.
The MPG 272QRF X36 is a 27″ Rapid IPS display with a native 2560 x 1440 resolution, a peak refresh rate of 360Hz and a 0.5ms GtG response time. It supports HDR with a peak brightness of 500 cd/m² and connects via either DisplayPort 1.4a or HDMI 2.1 with full VRR support for consoles. There is no USB-C but there are plenty of ports, including a headphone plug, three USB 5Gbps Type-A, one upstream USB 5Gbps Type-B and a USB 2.0 Micro-B which is specifically for firmware updates. The intention is for NVIDIA to provide somewhat regular firmware updates which you can install yourself, if you so desire.
If you need to upscale, the MPG 272QRF X36 will provide with Pixel-to-Pixel Precision for a variety of aspect ratios and screen sizes, including 2368 x 1332, 1920 x 1080, and 1280 x 960. The displays will also include G-SYNC Ambient Adaptive Technology, to modify the brightness and colour temperature based on the lighting where you are gaming. The colour gamut out of the box is stated to be 91% Adobe RGB, 80% DCI-P3 and 119% sRGB.
